You've heard of the Corner Diner this is the Diner's Corner. I've been waiting for a morning with clouds to shoot this shot. One of the advanteous of living close to the Museum is that Spur of the Moment is possible.
The Southern Pacific 1815 is a diesel locomotive, orginally built in May 1951. This is shot with a 24mm lens. Wide angle lenses can easily create unusal perpectives when shooting close objects. The normal perspective in this shot was retained because the subject wasn't that close to the lens. The image was cropped in post processing to create this final view. I have posted an exagerated perspective view of this locomotive so you see the affect a wide angle lens can have on perspective. This is the first my first visit to IRM where dramtic clouds were in the offering. It actually started raining while I was shooting this series. As good fortune would have it, as soon as I got all my equipment packed it stopped, so photography resumed. As bad luck would have it, within a hour the sun burned off the clouds and outdoor photography was over for me. On the other hand, I'm sure the rest of the patrons were glad for the sunshine.
